Enter Steve Gadlin, a web developer, writer, and comedian in Chicago. Back in April, as an experiment, he made a ridiculous product that would be easy to create and easy to fulfill. www.Iwanttodrawacatforyou.com was thus born.

I found this hilarious. For $9.95, you buy a custom drawing of a cat. It’s utter novelty; why else would you buy a crude stick figure of a cat? Because it’s custom. It’s yours. Steve drew this cat especially for you.

I think the whole concept is awesome simply because it sells. His facebook page for the site has 844 likes, and he has sold over 140 cats. Consider his expenses. Paper, a marker… three minutes a drawing? At the most? Now that’s an investment.

It’s always these kind of things that are so horrible that they are successful. And I wish I had thought of it. I could have an easy $1300 right now.
